...Athens Christmas Parade

Day 46
I grew up in a small town called Athens in north Alabama. Small town life had a lot of disadvantages but one of the biggest advantages was the Christmas parade.

I never fully appreciated the parade until I went to my first Christmas parade in Tuscaloosa a few years ago and it left much to be desired. The Athens Christmas parade was filled with floats and high school bands. There were lots of fire trucks and cheerleading squads. It was colorful and exciting.

My sister sent me a picture of my nephew at the parade tonight and I was so jealous. One of these days, I'm going to take my kids to the parade so they will see why I am so thankful that I grew up going to it for so many years.
