Day 14
My kids are involved in a lot of activities. A LOT! The participate in basketball, soccer, softball, drama, karate, piano, etc. The list goes on and on. The majority of these activities would not be possible without volunteer parents. My daughter has been playing sports since before Kindergarten and every year there was a Dad that volunteered to coach. I took that for granted! This year, the Dad that has been coaching them moved to Tennessee and someone new needed to step up. It happened to be my husband. He and two other Dads are working together to coach ten girls in basketball. I'm so excited for him and my daughter because I know they are thrilled to share this activity. For my son's team we were lucky that there was already a Dad that was set up to do it but he told us today that next year someone else will have to do it because he will move up to the next age group. Hopefully there will be a parent that can step up and volunteer to do that.
Without volunteers there are many things that couldn't be done. During my running days, I was so very grateful for all of the race volunteers that would come out to cheer us on or give us water or bananas. I couldn't have made it through without them. I have done my own share of volunteering as well and it really gives me a good feeling inside when I do it.
I'm so thankful for those that volunteer and I'm also thankful for those times when I am able to return the favor.
